Chain

A chain on a bicycle transfers power generated by the pedals to the wheel of the bike that propels it forward. Contemporary bicycles utilize a roller chain that is either 1/8" or 3/32" inches wide and has a ½" pitch. Three speeds and track bikes generally have 1/8" inch wide chains. Road bikes, racing bikes, and touring bikes are usually equipped with chains that are 3/32" wide.
