Derailers

Derailers are a part of a gear system most often used on bicycles. Derailers consist of a chain, sprockets, and a mechanism that moves the chain from one sprocket to the next. Derailers are operated by a Bowden cable and attached to a shift lever that is mounted on a down tube, handlebar stem, or handlebar. When the rider operates the lever, the cable moves the derailer back and forth that in turn moves the chain onto different gears.
