Headphones
Headphones are a pair of transducers that convert an electronic signal from an audio player or receiver into a sound wave. A pair of small speakers are connected to the transducers and worn on or in the ears to keep the sound waves private or to block out external noise. Usually detachable, headphones are connected to walkmans, telephones, CD players, MP3 players, and personal computers by a jack plug. Also called earphones, stereo-phones, and headsets.
